Caring for Others:

Our community gives generously to others in need–Transition House, Hope Refuge, Casa Esperanza, etc. We underwrite some of the Counseling Services at Catholics Charities so that those in need can get the counseling they deserve.  In addition, almost every member devotes his or her time and resources to various causes: Mission Doctors, the Red Cross, Santa Barbara Hospice, Girl Scouts, Senior Medical services, the Santa Barbara Cancer Center, the Alzheimer’s Walk, the Santa Barbara Courthouse, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, County ham and radio emergency communications, and many others.  When you attend one of our services, you’ll find that many in the congregation play active roles in the celebration of Mass.

Caring for Ourselves:

We at St. Anthony’s consider ourselves members of a small and loving extended family.  We do for each other what good families naturally do.  We faithfully visit each other at home and in the hospital.  In fact, some of our members who are RN’s have been known to spend the night caring for those of us who are bedridden.  We freely give our time and attention to whomever needs it and we feel comfortable in asking for what we need. We actively pray for each others’ needs and the needs of the world we live in. Nourished with the bread of life, we go out and live our commitments to one another; we always seem to leave with more than what we’ve brought. We are a close-knit family, and like any family, we rejoice over any new members to the fold.
